Nestled in the recently regenerated Granary Wharf under the iconic arches is one of Leeds newest restaurants VINeataly. Offering authentic Italian Food second in line to the award winning Diva Italiana in Pudsey VINeataly was definitely worth a visit!
VINeataly has an array of offerings throughout the day from lunch time panini’s right through to diner, coffee and cocktails giving you the option to enjoy a drink and relax or take a seat in the restaurant and indulge in some fine food. My guest and I opted for the restaurant and were seated on the top floor in a small booth allowing us to take in the rustic décor whilst absorbing the great energy from a very buzzing venue.
VINeatalyWe started with dry cured Tuscan ham (£6.95) with focaccia bread and wild mushroom and potato soup (£3.50) accompanied by a glass of VINeataly’s very own wine. Our main course of chicken fillet paillard (£9.95) and pasta al forno (£7.95) arrived and I couldn’t wait to tuck in. Both dishes were delicious and presented in a traditional dish with all the Italian trimmings making you really feel as though you were dining in Italy. You really could see, feel and taste the authenticity throughout. The oven baked pasta was bubbling away with cheese baked a rich tomato sauce bursting with flavours. The chicken was accompanied by crispy pancetta, spicy tomato sauce and roast potatoes cooked to perfection.
Whilst deciding on whether there was room for dessert we browsed the cocktail menu and opted for the spicy fifty and the Miss Gimlet. It was extremely refreshing to see such a unique cocktail list, especially in a restaurant setting as I tend to find the generic list of ‘signature’ cocktails! Following this we went for a recommended cocktail ‘Katrina Mule’ I definitely found my favourite cocktail here as it tasted so good I just had to order another!
We finally made our dessert decision and opted for the homemade vanilla cheesecake(£5.50) and the homemade chocolate and almondVINeataly cake (£5.55), both of which were beautifully presented and tasted divine; just the right amount to complete our perfect evening. What’s more, we were presented with an alcoholic shot which tasted much better than it looked!
The atmosphere was great and to my surprise it was pretty busy for a Tuesday evening. Massimo and Alessandro looked after us extremely well throughout the evening and overall all of the staff made us feel very welcome. I love the feel of this place and love the fact that it is injected with personality, great wine and delicious food. It really does feel as though you are dining in Italy without the price tag!
I would definitely recommend VINeataly for you next meal, however I would also recommend it for a drink after work as its cocktail and wine list is second to none. What’s more it is set alongside the canal and has outdoor seating to absorb the sunrays while its here!
